About New Yorker Type Classic and Pro Font Free Download

In 1985, I tried my hand at creating the New-Yorker-Type font, a revival of the typeface used by the New Yorker magazine. I drew the font completely by hand without scanning it first, only to discover later on that there were many similar typefaces from the same period. Out of them all, Rea Irvin’s design for New-Yorker was probably the best. Since.

Then, I have made some corrections to my original design and now, as we approach the start of 2020, I have given the font a complete makeover. This includes a set of Swash Initials, Cyrillic and Greek glyphs and a range of ligatures. It now has 1075 glyphs.

To cover most Latin writing systems. Furthermore, I have created two versions: a Classic one with rounded corners and a pointed Pro version that has a more modern look. In honor of Rea Irvin’s great contributions to both typeface and magazine design,.

I present this updated version of New-Yorker-Type. Yours sincerely, Gert Wiescher.
