How TAN Nimbus is drawn

The designer calls it “a psychedelic inspired typeface” that is “retro, bold, and playful”. In the specimens we rendered from the licensed files, it is a heavy, high-contrast display face: thick upright strokes, thin joining curves, and in almost every capital one stroke bends where you would expect a straight line.

• The capital N is the signature letter. Its diagonal is a thick ribbon that curls in from the top left, while the right stem stays thin.
• Several capitals end in curls instead of serifs. The C and G turn their terminals inward, the L finishes in a loop, and the R and K swing their legs outward.
• The lowercase is calmer. Letters such as n, m, u and h are close to conventional, so a mixed-case headline stays readable while the capitals carry the flourish.
