Design style

New York Bakery is a two-part set built from a loose, unhurried hand: a lowercase script with visible pen drag, and a matching all-caps companion for support text. The script isn’t polished calligraphy — it leans into slight wobble, uneven baselines and rounded terminals that read as friendly rather than formal. It sits closer to marker lettering than to a pointed-nib script, which is the point: it wants to look drawn, not engineered.

The caps are the quieter half. They’re boxy, a little irregular, and clearly meant to sit underneath the script rather than compete with it — think ingredient labels or a subhead under a hand-lettered logotype. Together they read as a cohesive pairing rather than two fonts thrown into the same file, which is more than can be said for a lot of duos in this category.

Character set and features

The duo comes with more weight range than most handwritten scripts bother with. The script ships in four weights — Regular, Medium, Scribe and Scribe Thick — with the Scribe variants pushing toward a calligraphic feel and heavier ink traps. Each of those has an oblique companion, which is a nice inclusion for a script face; it gives you a way to vary emphasis without switching families. The caps come in five weights, from a light Regular up to Thick, so pairing options within the set alone are fairly generous.
