Casual Morning: a bold all-caps handwritten family for playful branding

Design style

Casual Morning is an all-caps handwritten font family built around thick, marker-like strokes and a deliberately uneven baseline. The letters lean into that wobble rather than smoothing it out — verticals bow slightly, terminals blunt off unevenly, and the whole thing reads like it was drawn quickly with a chisel-tip marker rather than a fine pen. There are five styles in the family: Regular and Rough carry the main workload, with Rough adding grain and texture to the same skeleton, while Cloud, Pearl and Flower swap the strokes for decorative fills meant for accents rather than reading text.

The bold weight and capital-only structure give it a poster-like presence. It’s confident and a little brash, closer to a hand-painted sign than a diary entry. That said, the all-caps constraint means it doesn’t have the range of a script with upper and lowercase — everything sits at one register, which suits short bursts of type better than long-form setting.

What we liked, and what we didn’t

Strengths

  • The automatic alternate swap for repeated letters keeps double letters feeling handwritten instead of stamped.
  • Five coordinated styles give a lot of texture and decorative options without leaving the family's visual identity.
  • The bold, all-caps strokes hold up well at small sizes on screens, useful for thumbnails and social tiles.

Trade-offs

  • All-caps only means it can't carry long-form text or anything needing a mixed-case rhythm.
  • The decorative styles (Cloud, Pearl, Flower) are ornamental only and not meant for legibility at all, so they need careful pairing with a plainer style.

Casual Morning is a solid pick for anyone needing a loud, hand-marked all-caps voice for short bursts of text. It's not a font for paragraphs, but for headlines, labels and social graphics it does its job with personality.
