Paradine sits in the crowded field of handwritten signature scripts, but it earns its keep through a looser, more casual hand than most of its competitors. The strokes vary in weight without much drama — this isn’t a font chasing brush-pen contrast — and the baseline wanders just enough to suggest an actual pen moving across paper rather than a vector trace of one. Letters lean forward slightly and connect with a light touch, which keeps the overall texture calm rather than showy.

The alternate set changes the character noticeably. Where the default lowercase reads as tidy and legible, the alternates loosen up further, with exaggerated entry strokes and looping ascenders that push the font toward a more decorative register. It’s a useful distinction: one version for setting, one for a single dramatic word on a headline.

The ligatures are the actual selling point here, and they do real work. Pair it sparingly with a plain sans or serif for supporting text, and let Paradine handle the one or two words that need warmth. The alternates are worth reserving for a single headline word rather than a whole line — used everywhere, the looping ascenders start fighting each other for space. Brands leaning into a handmade, boutique feel — stationery, small-batch packaging, fashion labels — are the obvious fit.
